Come With Me to The UP!

Ahh… the lazy, hazy days of summer are fast coming to an end.
My favorite journey, summertime or anytime, to the wilds of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, has come and gone in a flash.

I’m homesick already πŸ™‚

I hope you’ve all enjoyed a lovely summer too! More vacation pics, garden pics, and maybe even some cooking are in order soon — as well as a visit to all of my favorite blog-haunts!

In the meantime, spend a virtual day at Lake Superior!

~~~~~
wildflowers
a sea of wildflowers leads to…
through the dunes
a path through the dune grasses, and an inland sea…
waves
water to the east…
grand sable banks
and to the west…
lake superior waves
and to the north, as far as the eye can see… but there’s more than meets the eye on these vast shores, here in the fabulous UP!
piping plovers
an adorable entourage of baby piping plovers is nearly hidden in the sand…
tiny plover big wave
they feed at the water’s edge ~ undeterred by towering waves…
piping plovers and protector
they keep company with a ring-billed gull, who nearly dwarfs the tiny plovers ~
this gull is not aggressive ~ he almost appears to be their protector!
me and my shadow...
as late afternoon approaches…
late afternoon
the plovers play on ~ the end of another beautiful summer day on lake superior…
    Hello Hello dear girl!! How are you? :)))
    Just saw your comment and replied, so glad to see you back. I was thinking of you y’day! Well! Lovely photos, beautiful. We missed the beach this Summer but will be there for a weekend in October.
    M is in 11th grade? Good luck to her. Trisha is “halfway” college girl now! πŸ˜€ She will be applying for Chapel Hill shortly for REAL college. She lokes the professors and is taking English, Psychology,Sociology, Freshman Seminar and Art(Online only, no class to attend) this semester which leaves plenty of time to study and hang around the house.HeHe!
    Hugs to you, enjoy blogging. I will keep in touch!:))
    Hi Asha dear!! Happy to see you’re still around, even if you’re busily redecorating πŸ˜‰ Looks like you had a great summer even without the beach!
    Isn’t that wonderful — T’s “off to college” yet you still get to keep her at home awhile longer πŸ™‚ Wishing the kids a wonderful and FUN school year. Yep, miss m will be a junior, and her brother turned 20 in July — he’s heading to junior year at college and can’t wait to be back. All his friends are there.
    Enjoy the rest of your summer Asha and will be watching for updates! Hugs πŸ™‚
    Beautiful Linda, I am sold. Its the UP and fresh water waves for me next summer πŸ™‚ I am really glad to see you back. Homesick I know exactly how that feels. Those tiny birds are Plovers! Always learn from you and those finches are still keeping us happy.
    I’m glad to see you, ISG! Missed you all summer! These little plovers are endangered. There were signs on the beach warning of them, but I came across the birds before I saw the signs! They didn’t seem to be bothered and I was careful not to get too close. They were so cute, camera doesn’t do them justice. I’m glad your finches are still around. They will stay through winter, even, although they will lose the bright yellow coat.
    I think you would really enjoy Lake Superior, ISG. Hope you get to visit it! πŸ™‚
