Mattar Tofu

I wanted to add something new to my frozen lunch repertoire — and I wanted to keep it low in fat, so I found a wonderful mattar paneer recipe, and substituted tofu for the paneer. Not exactly a novel idea — Giniann has blogged about it, and I’m sure there are others I have missed. I love tofu and this combination not only came out tasting great, but froze beautifully as well.

Thank you Madhu for sharing the great recipe.

The Mattar Tofu looks really yummy Linda !! I’ve never thought of trying it with tofu, have always been looking for good paneer for this recipe. Will try it out with Tofu soon 🙂 Thank you

I like it better with paneer, too, Priya — but I’m trying hard to behave as paneer is a weakness 🙂 thanks for visiting!

I use Tofu all the time to replace paneer!! Easier, isn’t it? Not to mention healthier 🙂 Thanks for the recipe!!!

Much healthier, Asha — now, palak tofu? That one I am not so sure about…… 🙂

Hi there..I am not good at freezing things. Does it retain the taste? Is everything freezable. I haven’t really frozen anything…got to start now.
    The dish looks delicious.

Hi Giniann, I thought this retained its taste very well – but I didn’t leave it in the freezer but a week or so at the most. Tofu changes slightly in texture after freezing, but nothing drastic. It helps to wrap the dish tightly in plastic or foil before covering, to lock out as much air as possible. Hope this helps!

Madhu’s recipe was really good… do give it a try. There is a link to it above 🙂
